How badly do we want to hold on to our resentment?

with Bhuta Bhavana das

“The material world is full of embarrassing and irritating situations, and unless one is inclined to be very much forgiving, he will become infected by a vindictive mentality, which spoils one’s spiritual consciousness.” - Srila Prabhupada.

How badly do we want to hold on to our resentment? Please join us for a liberating seminar where we will explore the art of forgiveness. Many of us live with the scars and wounds of past hurt and the resentment that this generates. This often impacts on our lives, creating anger, lack of enthusiasm to serve, distrust, and a host of other barriers to our spiritual progress and general well being.

This seminar will help us to release these negative emotions that we may be holding onto due to those past experiences. We will explore the price we pay when we do not forgive and learn how forgiveness can be one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves. Forgiveness is like an elixir that can rejuvenate our lives, if we allow it to take effect. We can come out of the forgiveness process renewed and re-energized.

Furthermore, discovering new attitudes and perceptions in relation to this subject can transform our future by helping us to deal with such challenges in a far more progressive way. Lets be clear: forgiveness does not mean that we turn ourselves into a punching bag so that others can continuously throw blows at us.

In this seminar, we will

Look at what forgiveness actually is, and expose the misconceptions about forgiveness

Understand how not forgiving others can and does impact upon us

Look at statements from the scriptures on the topic of forgiveness and its importance for spiritual progress

Learn to view forgiveness in a way that makes it easier to forgive

Gain a deeper perception of our past which can help us to let go of resentment

Learn about the karmic laws related to criticism and blame

Understand how to know when we have actually forgiven someone

2 part seminar by Bhakti Vijnana Goswami

Saranagati is one of Bhaktivinode Thakur’s popular writings. ‘Saranagati’ means ‘Process of Surrender’.

Saranagati means that a person has a desire to do something for Krishna. And as long as this desire does not appear, and the willingness to sacrifice does not appear, a person cannot truly consider himself a devotee.

Bhakti, or love of God, begins with Saranagati (surrender) unto Him, and as Saranagati develops in us our feelings for Krishna become more and more alive.

Time: 7:30am

Venue: Bhaktivedanta Manor Temple Room

Date: Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May

Bhakti Vijnana Goswami was born in Tashkent, former Soviet Union. He took to spiritual life in 1980, during a difficult time during the communist era in the former Soviet Union. He is a disciple of Radhanath Swami and resides primarily in Moscow, Russia, working tirelessly towards the building of a monumental temple there.

Since 1997 Bhakti Vijnana Goswami has acted as a member of ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission and since 2005 has served as one of the initiating gurus of ISKCON.

UK Premier a great success

LEAP is a new film about a disciple and his Guru and the choices that they make on their journey of surrender to Krishna. It is an adventure into ISKCON but also a film about religious experience in general.

It was premiered in the UK at Bhaktivedanta Manor’s Theatre on 3rd May.

The film documents the story of Keshava Madhava Das, a Finnish tram driver and a disciple, and Radhanath Swami.

With unprecedented access, LEAP charts the progress of Keshava over two years as he faces the challenges of reconciling his personal life. At the same time, the relationship of the Guru to his aspiring disciple is explored, as well as the Guru’s own personal and spiritual concerns.

By following the spiritual paths of Keshava and Radhanath Swami, we gain remarkable insight into one of the world’s most fascinating religions.

“It is an excellent film,” said Radha Mohan das, Communications Secretary of Bhaktivedanta Manor after viewing the premier of the film in Helsinki, “The camera work is creative, the footage is amazing and it’s great promotional material for ISKCON in general.”

Report from Radhadesh, Belgium

The recent ISKCON European Communications Seminar in Radadesh, Belgium, was a great opportunity for devotees to associate with each other, learn skills and get inspired by sharing experiences and information. Anuttama das, the ISKCON Global Communication Minister and Mahaprabhu das, who oversees Communications throughout Europe, facilitated the four day event.

Devotees representing the field of Communications from across Europe gave presentations on the latest achievements and discussed related issues in their countries. Gauri das, Srutidharma das, Pranabandhu das and Radha Mohan das represented Bhaktivedanta Manor, giving reports of the history of the development of the Manor and sharing more recent news and breakthroughs.

Attendees also had the opportunity to visit the new ISKCON premises in Brussels, which is just a 5 minute drive from the European Union buildings. The new ISKCON centre also houses the offices of the Hindu Forum of Europe, of which Mahaprabhu das is the General Secretary.
