In 1968, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada sent three enthusiastic American couples to London on a mission to propagate Krishna Consciousness to the people of Great Britain. Upon arrival, these six disciples connected with George Harrison and The Beatles, recorded an album and made the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra world-famous.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) was officially established in London on 14th December 1969 by our Founder-Acharya Srila Prabhupada with the installation of Sri Sri Radha-Londonisvara, the presiding deities of London.

Over the last 45 years, the ISKCON Hare Krishna Movement has been recognised as a source of authentic spirituality. Opulent deity worship, daily street chanting (harinam), vegetarian food distribution (prasadam), book distribution (shastra dhan), spiritual education based on Vedic teachings and festivals are a few aspects of Hare Krishna culture that have been welcomed by the city, establishing ISKCON-London as a spiritual oasis in the heart of Central London.

Please join us in commemorating 45 years of the Hare Krishna movement in London at our official celebration event – a very special and unique event consisting of appreciations and gratitude, music, drama, dance and a vegetarian feast. There will be special guests and surprises as we look back at the past, appreciate the present and glimpse into the future.

Best Wishes,
Jai Nitai dasa
ISKCON-London Temple President
