A Three Month Residential Course for Men

The residential Veda Course is designed for those wishing to gain a foundational understanding of bhakti-yoga. Over a period of three months, the following modules are covered: Theology and Philosophy, Devotional Practice and Vaishnava Culture.

You will experience the early-morning devotional programme, practical temple services and the variety of festivals that make Bhaktivedanta Manor famous. Living in a spiritual community will help you to deepen your knowledge, strengthen your faith and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Introductory Course for Women

This is a three month residential course, starting January 5th 2015 ending March 31st 2015.

Learn Simple Living, High Thinking
Experience devotional lifestyle at Bhaktivedanta Manor amongst devotees and likeminded students. Learn to built up a regular sadhana (devotional practise) by attending the daily morning and evening program in the temple room.

We offer a variety of service engagements as, temple cleaning, assisting in the kitchen, food distribution, farming, milking cows, outdoor congregational chanting, book distribution and home programs etc.

Classes and workshops will be held 4 days a week in the afternoon.

The syllabus
The course covers the studies of: Devotional Practice, Theology & Philosophy and Vaishnava Culture.

To commend success in completing the course, students will be awarded with a certificate.

Introductory Course for Women

This is a three month residential course starting on the 7th April 2014 and finishing on the 30th June 2014.

Spiritualised Living
Learn simple living, high thinking, experience the spirituality of the temple morning program, learn to play Indian musical instruments, meet other students, temple devotees and make new friends and so much more.

The Bhaktin Program is to gain new skills and experience.

Classes and workshops will be held 4 days a week with accompanying general temple services i.e. temple cleaning, support in the kitchen and assisting a number of festivals.

And on other days acquire new or improve upon your existing skills and experience in the following areas; book distribution, home visit programs, street procession (Harinam), food distribution, farming and milking cows, cooking and deity services etc.

Fees
A nominal charge of £150 will be asked for the course to cover basic costs of study materials, clothing etc. Concessions or sponsorships can be available for those with limited resources.

The syllabus of the Introductory Course / Bhaktin Course is as follows:
Students will take part in general temple service duties and festivals together with their classroom studies.

Ashram Training

A One Year Residential Training for Men

Having completed the basic residential courses, one is offered the opportunity to become a resident at Bhaktivedanta Manor for one year.

A mentor will oversee your stay, carefully chalking out a tailor-made program which will inspire, educate, challenge and spiritually develop you. Your service will be focused in a particular area of the project such as university outreach, congregational development, temple maintenance, goshalla etc. Time will also be allocated for personal study according to one’s inspiration and interest.

This period is designed to help one ascertain whether a long-term career in monastic life is for them.

At the end of the course the graduates go on the annual brahmachari retreat. Watch the video of 2014 retreat below:

The Veda Course

A 12 week residential course for men

The Veda Course is about learning to see and live life from the inside-out rather than the outside-in. The course aims to answer all the unanswered questions of life. The Veda Course invites you to learn from an ancient body of tried and tested wisdom, “the secrets of the east”, through philosophy seminars, applied spirituality workshops and exciting projects and festivals. The program provides the opportunity for conversation and dialogue with the leading thinkers, teachers and practitioners of this lifestyle in the modern day.

Course contents:

1. Experience Bhakti-Yoga in a unique and enlivening temple environment.

2. Systematic study of scriptures and literatures. Modules include:

  • Theology and Philosophy
  • Devotional Practice
  • Vaishnava Etiquette

3. Basic training in Sanskrit verses and Indian Classical Instruments.

4. Learn to prepare and offer food according to Vedic standards.

5. Basic training in deity worship according to Vedic practices.
