Vacancy: Milker / Farm Assistant

Here at Bhaktivedanta Manor’s New Gokul Farm we are  looking for a Milker / Farm Assistant to join us

Key responsibilities include

  • Milking the cows twice a day (including weekends)
  • Ensuring the cows are fed and watered sufficiently
  • Cleaning the goshala milking areas and equipment
  • Maintaining Milk records
  • Be seen by visitors during the milking process as the milking area is a central part of the farm

Applicants should be able to rise early and work without supervision. Punctuality is essential. Persons who have had experience in some land-based work would be preferred, however, training will be given and so the post is open to those without any previous experience. As the post requires the handling of farm materials and milking cows good health will be required. Our cows are hand-milked and this should be borne in mind by the applicants.

The temple is a place established for the worship of our Deities and for the active cultivation and distribution of Krishna Consciousness, as taught by Srila Prabhupada. The temple is also a home to our residential devotees. As a member of Bhaktivedanta Manor, the Temple Commander is to wholeheartedly pursue fulfilling the objectives of the temple by performing his service with enthusiasm, care and attention.

  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Prasad is served to all guests.

Vacancy: Creative Content Designer

Here at Bhaktivedanta Manor we are excited to announce we are looking for a Creative Content Designer – this person will play an instrumental part in developing our campaigns & communications to our visitors, volunteers and members. Therefore, it is highly desirable that candidates have knowable of, or a passion for, what Bhaktivedanta Manor has to offer!

We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic and has experience of design in all its forms (i.e. across motion graphics, animation, photography, social content, infographics, interactive digital assets, visual design, video content and traditional print), with visual design skills, and the ability to translate even the most complex or technical message into highly engaging and impactful digital and print work! You’ll also take the lead on ensuring the accurate interpretation and implementation of Bhaktivedanta Manor’s brand guidelines, as well as manage relationships across the varied departments.

Vacancy: Director of New Gokul Farm

Need for visionary leadership!

Hare Krishna, at the Manor we are very proud of our incredible farm and goshala project that we have been managing and maintaining for many years now. Our farm is affectionately named New Gokul, and it has served as a loving home for our beloved cows as well as giving joy, knowledge, and inspiration to hundreds of people every day. And yet, it’s evident that there’s still so much potential to New Gokul that we haven’t tapped into and so many innovative ways it can serve the community and beyond.

We are looking for an inspired, individual who’ll expand on the vibrancy of New Gokul and help create an immersive atmosphere of devotion as exemplified by Srila Prabhupada for devotees, staff, volunteers, and visitors. This requires visionary leadership, amalgamating ancient spiritual practices with a harmonious, holistic, natural way of living based on a universal spirituality rooted in the traditions of bhakti yoga based on the teachings of Srila Prabhupada. There is a great opportunity here to develop New Gokul into a national centre for excellence in sustainability and animal welfare and based on exemplary Krishna conscious leadership and a culture of care and personalism.

Exhilarating new responsibilities!

As the director of New Gokul, you’ll be representing New Gokul and ISKCON’s philosophy of cow protection and sustainable living to government departments, agencies, and relevant external and internal bodies. Not to mention working with Bhaktivedanta Manor ‘s departments to ensure a seamless visitor experience as well as attending to the needs of the devotees, staff, volunteers, and visitors. You’ll be personally meeting and greeting Senior devotees and VIPs and ensuring their appropriate care.

You’ll help to make sure that New Gokul thrives and prospers as a centre for Vaishnava agrarian practice, education and training and organise, promote, and expand some wonderful ceremonies and functions throughout the year like letting the cows out in spring and Govardhan Puja in autumn. There’ll be opportunities to devise practical business plans involving sustainability, chemical-free natural farming and dairy production and of course maintaining publications that will educate and inspire people about New Gokul.

You’ll ensure the milk needs of our beloved Deities are taken care of will be spearheading an innovative waste removal and composting program. And of course, you’ll be making sure our much loved cows, bulls and the land is protected, preserved all within a sanctified, Krishna conscious environment.

Qualities required?

This is an exciting and stimulating position that requires you to be exemplary in behaviour and loyal to Srila Prabhupada’s mission. The position requires visionary and managerial capabilities and the ability to achieve goals under deadlines. And of course, it’s essential to have an approachable, accessible, and collaborative mood.

Experienced Bookkeeper Needed

Experienced Bookkeeper

The GBC National Office is the head office for ISKCON in the UK and the administrative base for the UK GBC Secretary.  Our team work with the Society’s legal and UK wide organisational obligations such as dealing with the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC.

We are currently looking for a reliable and highly responsible person to fill the role of experienced bookkeeper at our office in Radlett, Hertfordshire.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake / oversee daily financial processes to enable accounts to be prepared to trial balance.  You will be liaising with charity trustees, management accountants and auditors as well as all the UK centres and temples and assist in standardising and preparing accounts for audit.

The successful candidate will;

  • be qualified to AAT level 3 or equivalent
  • proficient in SAGE 50 accounting software
  • have good command of the English language and strong interpersonal skills
  • ideally have previous experience in a similar role

This is a part time position – up to 21 hours per week and the salary exceeds NMW

The successful applicant will need to be either a UK citizen / passport holder or have an appropriate visa for working in the UK
