Here at Bhaktivedanta Manor we are looking for a cook for the main kitchens for daily prasad.

Key responsibilities include

  • Daily cooking for 500 – 600 people (deities, priests, residents, visitors and catering
    engagements).
  • Sunday – cooking for 1000 visitors.
  • Cooking style – traditional Indian dishes per ISKCON standards.
  • Daily attend the early morning programme – maintain a strict sadhana – (16 rounds, 4
    regulative principles).
  • Cook for annual festivals – 10 festivals catering from 3000 to 15000 people.
  • Following Food Hygiene Safety standards as required by law.
  • Work cooperatively with all the kitchen team members.

Core Competencies:

  • Attention to detail,
  • Should be able to cook multiple items together.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Should be able to work under pressure
  • Should have expert knowledge of Indian dishes (no certificates/courses but evident through work experience).

Qualification & Eligibility:

  • 1st initiated.

  • The candidate must be experienced in cooking big quantities (1000+).
  • He/she must have cooked in ISKCON kitchens for at least 3 years.

Vacancy: Volunteer Administrator

Here at Bhaktivedanta Manor We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated candidate for the role of Volunteer Administrator to support the Volunteer Care Council (VCC).

The VCC are responsible for engaging over 1,000 volunteers in different roles and opportunities of volunteer works throughout the year at Bhaktivedanta Manor.

This is an exciting opportunity to work and serve with the VCC team to provide exciting and life changing moments of service.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of a volunteer program which generates opportunities and role descriptions based on current operational and program aspirations.
  • Help internal stakeholders to understand the role of volunteers and the contribution they can make to their departments
  • Recommend and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program reflecting ISKCON’s values.
  • Manage the practicalities of the volunteering program such as policies, procedures, standards, safeguarding and budgets.
  • Provide the appropriate administration to the existing team in regards to recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date database.
  • Using marketing tools such as social media, e-mails, and volunteer databases to communicate, promote and inspire
  • Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and the exciting volunteer opportunities.
  • Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets, and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training.
  • Keeping schedules and records of volunteers’ work.
  • Preparing codes of conduct and operating procedures to uphold the organization’s values.
  • Investigate best practice in the volunteering and cultural sectors regarding increasing the diversity of volunteers.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders including Universities/volunteering hubs/other ISKCON communities.
  • Develop and maintain links with local community groups and other organizations and businesses in order to recruit volunteers.
  • Raise the profile of Bhaktivedanta Manor’s volunteer programs, acting as an ambassador.
  • Work with Marketing to design a range of marketing materials in accessible formats to promote ISKCON and its volunteer program, including digital methods.
  • Attend volunteer fairs and community events and organize recruitment workshops and talks.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Ensure that volunteer roles, guidelines, procedures, record keeping and evaluation systems are followed and maintained.
  • Ensure that volunteers receive the appropriate level of supervision.
  • Provide data and written reports for internal and external reporting as required.
  • Health and Safety
  • Ensure that all programs, activities and events are developed and conducted in line with Health & Safety and Safeguarding guidelines, conducting any necessary risk assessments as required.

Details of special skills and experience required:

  • Knowledge of current trends, resources and information related to volunteer management;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people
  • Proven experience of initiating and managing volunteer projects is desirable

Vacancy: School of Bhakti – Operations Administrator

The Operations Administrator is the single point of contact for administration at the School of Bhakti (SB) which is a pivotal role as it encompasses logistics from inception to delivery of courses, events and retreats.

Key responsibilities include

  • Maintain SB’s schedule
  • Liaise with stream leads and when necessary facilitate meetings
  • Create posters for the various social media platforms within a given
  • Manage the SB Reception
  • Maintain an organised repository/archive of all course materials and recordings
  • Assist with quality checks
  • Assist with candidates queries (SB phone and Inbox)
  • Provide periodic adhoc reports to the management team

Requirements:

As the Event Manager, you should demonstrate exceptional organisational abilities, superb interpersonal skills, multi-tasking skills, and excellent time-management and possess a sound knowledge of client management. Key responsibilities include

  • Ensure all Weddings and Events are planned to a high standard whilst exceeding our guest’s expectations.

Vacancy: Schools Booking Assistant

Here at Bhaktivedanta Manor we are looking for a Bookings Assistant for the ISKCON Educational Services to look after the Bookings and administration of IES, and perform duties of Teaching Assistant when requested by the supervisor.

Key responsibilities include

  • Manage Correspondence.
    • Receive, log and respond to all requests, whether by letter, fax, email, phone, voicemail, etc.
    • Send all necessary confirmations, detail packs and other information.
  • Manage Bookings
    • Make, log and process all bookings using in house booking system
    • Inform all departments of services required by posting schedules and communicating as necessary.
    • Book rooms using Temple in house booking system
  • Manage Office
    • Ensure computer backups are kept daily.
    • Maintain a clean, tidy and organized office.
    • Order office supplies and store them when necessary.
  • Occasionally play host to the guests.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, discussions and strategic planning.
  • Teaching Assistant duties (to be done only in busy months):
    • Give tours.
    • Assist with or lead workshops (dressing up, role playing, face painting, shop, etc.).
    • Help with lunch service.
    • Assist with cleaning, tidying and restocking the shop, teaching equipment and storage
    • Give stories and small presentations and occasionally sing during arti.

  • To be very aware that the clients of IES are not here for conversion purposes but rather informative. We are not proselytizing but educating.  
  • Must be comfortable with teaching Hinduism in its broader context and our Vaishnava philosophy and way of life.
  • To be able to teach a wide range of students from reception to key stage 4 and beyond.
  • Be willing to participate in all aspects of the program (tours and activities, presentations, lunch and cleaning, singing in arati etc.) when required to do so. 
  • Deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment.

The goal is to keep our buildings (Goshala rooms, Temple and Haveli) in a clean and orderly condition.

The candidate must be proactive, responsible, trust worthy and takes initiative.

Key responsibilities include

  • Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, toilets, dressing rooms and shoe racks etc.)
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
  • Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects
  • Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
  • Stock and maintain supply rooms
  • Cooperate with the rest of the staff
