Appearance of Srimati Sita Devi

Sunday, May 1st, 2022

Tuesday 10 May 2022

Srimati Sita Devi, a manifestation of the goddess of fortune, Lakshmi Devi, is the eternal consort of Lord Ramachandra. When Lord Ramachandra was banished to the Dandakaranya forest, Sita Devi left the comforts of the royal palace to join Him. While in the forest she was kidnapped by the demonic king Ravana, yet despite his endeavors to enjoy her beauty, she remained always dedicated to Lord Ramachandra.

Please join us for the Morning Program, which will include a special class about Srimati Sita Devi. 4:30am-8:30am

You will also get a special opportunity to see the beautiful flower dress worn by the deity of Srimati Sita Devi on this day, up until 7:30pm. Please click here for Darshan times.

Appearance of Srimati Jahnava Devi

Also celebrated on this day is the Appearance of Srimati Jahnava Devi, the wife of Sri Nityananda Prabhu. Especially after the disappearance of Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda, she became a leading figure in the sankirtana movement.

Appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022

Sri Nityananda Prabhu appeared as the main associate of Lord Caitanya as they propagated the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord. He is non-different from Lord Balarama, who appears as the older brother of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

His mercy knew no bounds, and those who were fortunate to come in contact with Him were inundated with the love of Godhead. There is the story of Jagai and Madhai, two brothers who were known as debauchees of the worst type, creating public disturbances and sinners of all description. Sri Nityananda Prabhu heard about these brothers and decided that they must be delivered from their sinful life despite all the offences they had caused, including striking Sri Nityananda Prabhu on the head with a piece of earthen pot. He was so kind that instead of getting angry, Sri Nityananda Prabhu simply continued his request for them to chant the holy names of the Lord. Seeing His humility, the two brothers soon became devotees of the Lord.

On Nityananda Trayodasi (the appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu) His past-times are meditated on and celebrated, and prayers are made to receive His mercy.

 Nityananda Prabhu by Visakha dasi

Nityananda Prabhu is non-different from Lord Balarama, who appears as the older brother of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. His internal potency, an expansion of Sri Balarama maintains the transcendental existence of all the planets in the spiritual sky, where all the living beings are eternally liberated souls. In the spiritual sky, the influence of the material energy is completely absent.

Outside the planets in the spiritual sky is the impersonal manifestation of Sri Krishna, which is known as the brahmajyoti. On the other side of Brahmajyoti is the spiritual Causal Ocean. The material energy exists on the other side of the Causal Ocean, without touching it. In the Causal Ocean is Maha-Vishnu, who is an expansion of Balarama. Maha-Vishnu places His transcendental glance over the material energy, which produces the entire cosmic manifestation.

Maha-Vishnu again enters every universe as the reservoir of all living entities, Garbhodakasayi Vishnu. From Garbhodakasayi Vishnu expands Kshirodakasayi Vishnu, the Supersoul of every living entity. Maha-Vishnu, Garbhodakasayi Vishnu and Kshirodakasayi Vishnu are plenary expansions of Sri Balarama, who is nondifferent from Nityananda Prabhu. The spiritual master is the representative of Balarama, the form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead who supplies spiritual strength, so Nityananda Prabhu is the original spiritual master. The spiritual master is the manifestation of the mercy of Krishna, and Nityananda Prabhu determinedly tries to help people by bringing them to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s service. The debauchees  Jagai and Madhai were among the first such people, and they became exalted devotees due to the astounding mercy of Sri Nityananda Prabhu.

May the all-powerful Nityananda Prabhu also extend His causeless mercy to all of us!
