Appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu
Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022Sri Nityananda Prabhu appeared as the main associate of Lord Caitanya as they propagated the congregational chanting of the holy names of the Lord. He is non-different from Lord Balarama, who appears as the older brother of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
His mercy knew no bounds, and those who were fortunate to come in contact with Him were inundated with the love of Godhead. There is the story of Jagai and Madhai, two brothers who were known as debauchees of the worst type, creating public disturbances and sinners of all description. Sri Nityananda Prabhu heard about these brothers and decided that they must be delivered from their sinful life despite all the offences they had caused, including striking Sri Nityananda Prabhu on the head with a piece of earthen pot. He was so kind that instead of getting angry, Sri Nityananda Prabhu simply continued his request for them to chant the holy names of the Lord. Seeing His humility, the two brothers soon became devotees of the Lord.
On Nityananda Trayodasi (the appearance of Sri Nityananda Prabhu) His past-times are meditated on and celebrated, and prayers are made to receive His mercy.
